Sunday 3/23 HAPPY EASTER!

Well---it was certainly not a traditional Easter Sunday for us, but it was a good day nonetheless. We had the opportunity to go to church this morning, but the service was only in Chinese so we opted to have our own service in the afternoon (more on that later!) We all boarded the bus to Shamian Island at 9:00 and did our shopping---more souveniers---and then headed back to our hotel for a nap. Leila--like any 2 year old--isn't big on the shopping and she was in dire need of some rest. At around 3pm, one of the dads in our group who happens to be a pastor, and another dad who happens to be a worship leader, rented a conference room in the hotel and held an impromptu Easter service. Unfortunately, Leila was sleeping so hard that I couldn't wake her up, so we were unable to attend. Jason said it was great to be able to spend some time with other believers singing and in prayer, as well as listening to a message that Eric had prepared.

Sunday evening, Jason and I decided that we were on a mission to finish all our shopping. We headed back to the island, had dinner at Lucy's again, and by 9:15pm had finished our mission. The shopping is so much more exhausting because of all the haggling you have to do if you really want a good price. We came back to the hotel and chatted with family for awhile, then it was off to bed for all of us.

Tomorrow is a pretty relaxed day, so we plan on sleeping in!

Love,
Alissa
