Spring Break in Texas...
Sunday, March 15th, 2009
We are having such a great time visiting Texas for Spring Break. It wasn't until we left that I realized how badly we all needed a break from the daily routine and from our house. I just finished covering a maternity leave at a third hospital, and 'ready for a break' was an understatement!
We had a great trip driving down to Fort Worth on Saturday---the kids are seasoned travelers after our 23 hour trip to North Carolina last summer! They played their video games, read books, and enjoyed a picnic lunch, but we were ALL happy to finally arrive at the hotel. The kids were ready to swim, and then everyone collapsed into bed.
Today we woke up and enjoyed a great breakfast at the hotel. We then went to the Fort Worth Stockyards, which Caeden likes to refer to as the Stock Market. We showed the kids where we met (Billy Bob's of Texas), and told conflicting stories over who was flirting more that night (he was.) While in the stockyards, we got to see a cattle drive, which the kids really enjoyed.
After the stockyards, we visited the Botanical Gardens, saw a show at the Omni Theater, and then enjoyed lunch at the park! Finally, we returned to our Alma Mater, Texas Christian University. It has changed so much since we went there, but every minute of it still brought back a million memories. TCU was where Jason serenaded me outside my dorm window, escorted me to many a sorority party, and studied with me into the wee hours of the morning. I fell in love with him at TCU, and here we are 18 years later, giving our 4 kids a tour! It wasn't the first time we've been back, nor the first time we've taken the kids, but for some reason this time it was extra nostalgic for me.
Thanks for checking in....GO Frogs!

I love Caeden's comment about the stock yards as the Stock Market.
